'Portraits'

solo exhibition  2014

The Capital Theatre

Chloe Neath's first solo exhibition was opened at The Capital (next to the Bendigo Gallery) on thursday 7th August. 'Portraits' was a collection of intricately detailed charcoal and pastel drawings. The works displayed faces from a wide spectrum of society and history including intricate drawings of local elders. The exhibition gave visitors the opportunity to see the drawings at their best; when they are viewed 'in the flesh'.

The exhibition opening coincided with the beginning of The Bendigo Writers Festival. In the spirit of the festival each artwork was accompanied by a quote from Shakespeare to help evoke the 'feel' of each person being portrayed.

The festival opening night event was an in depth discussion with Blanche D'Alpuget the famous author, and wife of the former Prime Minister Bob Hawke. As stated on the front cover of The Bendigo Weekly, Chloe Neath presented her portrait of Blanche D'Alpuget on stage as a thankyou gift from The Capital, The Writers Festival and the Bendigo community.
